The year was 1857. Portland was a small but rapidly growing inland port in the rugged Oregon Territory. And adventurous settlers from the East were beginning to stream in by ship and covered wagon to seek their fortune. Some became ranchers: Others cut timber. And the George Lawrence Company was established. Leather products were important commodities to these early pioneers. Saddlery. Gunbelts. Holsters. And quality was an absolute necessity. A man’s life could depend on how well a belt and holster was designed and withstood hard wear, rain, sun and dust. So, painstaking care went into the making of every Lawrence product. And the Lawrence name quickly came to represent the very finest in quality leather goods. Naturally a few changes have taken place since the George Lawrence Company began. We’re bigger, of course. But we think modern machinery has yet to improve on many hand skills. We take a very special pride in producing a product that will give you excellent service and pleasure for years. Just as we did well over a century ago.
